Karen Taylor Edgerton - Wholistic Nutrition

I began my pursuit of wellness over fifteen years ago in 2004 doing my own research and trying to bounce ideas off my family doctor who bluntly told me to stay off the internet, who said I was normal and nothing was wrong but I knew something wasn't right. So I just learned to deal with all my ailments that would arise. It wasn’t until the fall of 2013 where I took to the natural holistic approach and realized the popular ``diet`` information circulating was actually sabotaging my best efforts. I jumped right in and changed my habits which led to more and more changes as I became more in-tune with my body. I was seeing so many little ailments disappearing over time and vowed never to settle to feel that way again.

This is why I decided to leave my career as a general machinist and left the metal cutting industry of nineteen years and pursue my passion. I want to help other people like me who feel hopeless and have tried everything to get well but nothing seems to help. Your immune system is linked to the stomach which is called your second brain and I truly believe you can change your entire health by just eating well and treating your body like a temple to promote overall optimal health and longevity.

Kathy Hernadek - Cozy Knitwear & Milk Bag Creations

Making Knitwear and Recycling Milk Bags into Sleeping Mats and Carryall Bags

My name is Kathy Harnadek and I, along with about six others, take outer milk bags and make three feet by six feet sleeping mats and large carryall bags for the homeless and needy youth in Essex County. These are taken to the Leamington Youth Research Centre on Sherk Street in Leamington called ``The Bridge``, that bridges the gap between youth, ages fourteen and twenty-four, and provides them with the resources needed to excel. The youth use these carryall bags to carry donated groceries and the mats are used for sleeping outdoors. The Bridge also has a separate facility, which has ten beds, five bathrooms, a shared living space, kitchenette and is supervised by staff throughout the night, for youth between sixteen and twenty-four. They are housed for just under a year and participate in programming to assist them in moving towards independent living.

We also make knitted items, such as toques, headbands, scarves and mittens/gloves for The Bridge and other non-profit groups.

Please donate all your outer milk bags or yarn directly to the Community Centre to assist us in our volunteer work helping these youth.
